  1. The second I heard about all of the humanitarian programs getting slashed by Trump and Melon, I knew that this was going to come soon.
    This administration is causing misery and death to millions of poor desperate people. The cruelty on display is astounding.

    All nations need to contribute. Many have huge trade surplus and relatively small debts and give nothing…time to kick in.

  7. I am Nigerian, and let’s be honest, it is not the US government’s job to stop this. It is the Sudanes’ government’s job to prevent this. They can’t keep relying on foreigners’ help forever.

  10. I feel sad for animals and people when I see they are suffering. But you can’t help them all. You need to pick your battles and take on what you can burden. They are not our responsibility. This idea of keeping nations dependent on us to “buy” their loyalty isn’t one many of us care about anymore.

  12. It’s not the absence of USAID that’s *causing* mass starvation, it’s the absence of economic, political, and social systems to distribute reliable food to the people of Sudan. It sounds like USAID was a bandaid solution to the real problems?

    Trying to look at this from a realist lens. Obviously starvation shouldn’t happen in 2025 but the reality is there’s such drastic social & economic inequality in this world that it’s a reality, as we enjoy our comforts of the western world.

  17. To think there’s a little boy somewhere who went to eat one day, and it just wasn’t there….and never was again…..I just can’t stand children suffering. Those toddlers….just laying on the ground, confused and afraid, until they just stop breathing… My god, they should be playing with toys! I can’t even keep it together. There is nothing on earth that is more of an affront to everything good in existence than a child’s heart going quiet.

    One of the most satisfying things I’ve ever experienced is the simple happiness and satisfaction and pleasure of seeing a little one eat, even when its not my own child. All I have the power to do is make sure it doesn’t happen to my child, and it feels so incredibly wrong and inadequate in every concievable way.

    Do I think the US should fulfill the obligations they agreed to? Absolutely, but someone needs to step up in their absence.

  29. It’s sad how things work sometimes. People in Sudan and other underdeveloped countries came to rely so much on foreign aid, and now with it gone, they’re left struggling just to survive. When support becomes the backbone of daily life, pulling it away suddenly can do more harm. Maybe there should’ve been a better plan, not just to give, but to help them stand on their own.
