Hi everyone,

Due to a few health issues, I really suffer here in the Summer without central air conditioning.

I’ve tried all the tricks & the portable A/C’s work, but also have their downsides.

Has anyone tried the bed cooling systems and had success with them?

Here’s a couple of examples:

Thank-you

  1. I haven’t tried but I thought about it. In the end it feels like too much hassle.

Have you considered installing a good quality AC in your room?

  2. Don’t bother with eight sleep, it’s a subscription scam haha, for all things they advertise you need to pay a subscription, this is bullshit.

  3. I have one (eight sleep). It’s a life saver. It’s improved my sleep so, so much.

It’s also expensive, and as some people noted it doesn’t work without a subscription. Which is shitty. But it’s not a scam, just an annoying business model. In their defense; there’s an AI component to it and their servers analyse what seems to improve your specific sleep. Maybe that’s a gimmick? No idea. But it does work.

But the actual product is f%^£ amazing. And it fixes the shitty summer heat sleep.

Downsides are: subscription, and slightly loud on a very hot day (like a fan).

Upsides are: SIGNIFICANTLY improved sleep. Seriously. And I now sleep comfortably regardless of the temperature.

For context I’ve had mine for 6 months.

  4. You could consider a cotton+wool natural mattress. This doesn’t accumulate heat the way foam or latex does.

Also try the Ikea Rosenvial cooling mattress covers

  5. If you have a medical condition, have you tried consulting a medical rpofessional?

Personally have tried a cooling mat, but it didn’t really do anything for me. I don’t have any medical issues, but do run really hot at night, especially in summer. I usually use a fan pointed at me, which really helps me personally.

Also want to reiterate, please do not buy from Eight Sleep. Terrible company

  6. I have one. It’s expensive but really improved my sleep. Especially in summer. One thing to consider is that you need some ventilation in your room otherwise the cooling will make your room crazy hot. I have minergie so it’s well ventilated but it still causes the room to get hotter by around 1 degree.

My summary of it is: “you know the feeling when you wake up and turn your pillow around or roll around and it’s fresh? Well now the whole bed is like this all the time”
