15 people murdered and the response from the Israeli military is to dismiss one commander. And reprimand another. No criminal charges.
I’m not surprised, but it’s another example of no accountability for war crimes committed by the IDF.
Alright. So there was an ambush, which turned into a clusterfuck, including some actions which may have been confusion in the fog of war and others which were unambigiously war crimes. The commander then lied on his report and they tried to cover it up. And if not for the mobile phone footage it’s likely the story would have stood. Although I am broadly sympathetic to Israel, it’s impossible to avoid the question of how much else has been swept under the rug in the Gaza abattoir.
(Also it never ceases to amaze how bad Israel are at PR and media management. Three weeks to establish the facts of the case and come clean. In the social media age that might as well be a hundred years.)
