South Korea and the U.S. will hold trade consultations in Washington this week, according to Seoul’s trade ministry.

The meetings will occur on the sidelines of the IMF and World Bank spring sessions, with South Korean Finance Minister Choi Sang-mok and Trade Minister Ahn Duk-geun meeting U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.

Ahn will depart on Wednesday, though the ministry did not disclose specific agenda details.

The talks come as South Korea seeks to lower a 25% “reciprocal” tariff announced by former President Donald Trump, which has since been paused.

In a recent Financial Times interview, acting South Korean President Han Duck-soo emphasized that Seoul “will not fight back” against U.S. tariffs, citing America’s post-Korean War aid and security support.

Instead, he stressed the desire to find “solutions which are more win-win for both” countries.
