I don’t doubt this at all. And it’s freaking terrifying
It’s not a negotiation. US is asking all its vassals what they have to offer.
If it isn’t blatantly obvious already- Trump is intentionally bunging up the supply chain like he did in his first term, as this means higher prices, inflation, likely bailouts that preclude any wage increases- and even so those increases will just get funneled up into goods and services.
THIS IS A WEALTH TRANSFER.

Even if it’s only executive orders and they can easily be rolled back does not make it easy for other countries to let this go in the future.
Since the US has shown some bad and unstable sides of it self on both sides.
Biden : weponized the dollar against Russia so they had no chance to do transactions (can be done to any country holding dollars)
Could have done what all the other countries did let that be with normal sanctions.
I’m not saying it’s a bad thing, but other countries noticed that the dollar could easily be weponized and faith in the USD was in a decline because of this.
Trump : Weponized the large consumer base in the US.
When all ya do is make word salad…..
Everyone begging for Trump’s favor is the point. It gives him huge amounts of personal power, but it makes sense that his negotiators don’t have anything particular to ask for. He “just” wants leverage over all companies and all countries. They just have to give him a token win and promise to always do what he says, or the tariffs will return.
Don’t tell me, it’s 4D chess? He’s just looking wildly incompetent to throw his enemies off balance? Or are we all doomed? Yeah, we’re all doomed that’s much more likely.
I feel that it’s going something like this
US: we want to sell to your market easier. We want you to remove tarrifs on US products. We need to be paying less that the 42 per cent tarrif you’re charging us.
Other country: the average tarrifs on US items is 0.01 per cent. Yes some items are at 1.7 per cent but that’s to protect our local industry US
US: 👀
Other country: …do you think maybe the product that you are looking to sell is maybe just not a good product or doesn’t comply with our safety regulations
US: This negotiation is a joke
