> Tory ministers were heckled by bereaved families of Covid victims shouting “off to another party are we?” after it was announced that 20 fines relating to the Met police partygate investigation will be issued.
> The jeers were aimed at senior Tory MPs, including Levelling Up Secretary Michael Gove, as they arrived to attend a dinner held by Boris Johnson at the Park Plaza, a luxury hotel near Westminster Bridge.
> Dozens of grief-stricken relatives who lost loved ones during the pandemic lined up outside the entrance on Tuesday evening to boo guests, which included Chancellor Rishi Sunak.
> Shouts of “shame on you” and “off to another party are we?” were directed at Mr Gove and Brexit opportunities minister Jacob Rees-Mogg.
> ITV News UK Editor Paul Brand was questioning Conservative MPs as they arrived at the hotel.
> Simon Mundell, the former Scotland Secretary, said the gathering was just “colleagues getting together” when asked if this “party would help him forget all the other parties in No10?”
Keep in mind this is just after Johnson attended the Prince Phillip memorial service, and after the news of at least 20 fines issued for the Partygate scandal. This is Johnson giving a “fuck-you” to the British public. Optics around this act is shocking.
They’d steal the wallet of your dead relatives if it meant siphoning another tenner out of the public voter for their or their friends benefit.
VOTE THEM OUT
Oh look, the story didn’t go away while we were distracted with war. This pleases me greatly.
Levelling Up Secretary seems like something a memelord on r/gaming calls himself
Good for the bereaved families. I’m sure Boris promised to meet with them and never has because of the “ongoing investigation”.
If the families were trying to shame them, it’s a fruitless endeavour unfortunately- they don’t have any shame.
Only greed.
Looks like they wheeled out Fabricant to say something silly to distract us as well… very predictable and as expected everyone talking about his stupid haircut on Twitter etc
Whoever that second cunt was who said that the party wouldn’t buy loyalty, but the international situation will… are they hoping the war will drag on up to the next election?
What a waste of time. The whole issue is that tory ministers love the boos…
Their fines will be paid by guess who ? ‘ yes that’s right us!!!!
They should be struck out of office
“No amount of cajolery, and no attempts at ethical or social seduction, can eradicate from my heart a deep burning hatred for the Tory Party that inflicted those bitter experiences on me. So far as I am concerned they are lower than vermin”. – Nye Bevan, 1948
As true today as it was then. They truly are lower than vermin
Completely deserved.
Low-key I think a significant minority of older dyed in the wool Conservatives will choose to not vote next election because of the sheer nightmare they were put through with dying relatives while ministers partied without even the hint of an apology never mind accountability.
.
And just gutted they listened to the utter bollocks of lockdown, whilst letting their doddery relatives pop down to Covid central Supermarkets 6 times a week, with a useless face mask and a little alcohol hand gel.
All those people at those parties were there voluntarily, were in their prime and very few had medical complications. Or they wouldn’t have been there. And their actions, as advisers to central government, clearly demonstrate the public fear was tantamount to hysteria, brought about by an imaginative and slightly sinister SPI-B, trying out new social control techniques on a population.
Fewer that 5% of deaths in the U.K. were below average life expectancy. Of Those that died, 96% had at least 3 chronic, life limiting conditions. Fucking man up.
We have a leader and entire party that are perfectly comfortable repeatable lying to us.
They will never have our best interests at heart, they are entirely self serving.
Their belief we are entirely stupid is confirmed by us continuing to enable them to corruptly use their power to line their own pockets.
We allow this behaviour.
And now they’re removing all restrictions and closing free PCR test sites, because covid is clearly over.
Our government couldn’t care less about us.
Rees-Mogg believes they are focussing on mere political fluff
Absolutely shocking & as a Scot deeply embarrassed an old fool who served in Scots guards said “I’d do it again deeply enjoyable”
Sure you know who IDS !
Dirty offensive, horrendous human beings,Chancellor wife/father has info sec company Russia but don’t tell you they code hackng tools,if know way around Tor can trace some back to Github then their company, should not be elected official anyone of them !
If they cared about what people thought they wouldn’t have done it in the first place
Boo hoo hoo the pwime mwinister did a party when he wasn’t s’posed to 🥺
This whole thing is nonsense and just manufactured outrage instigatedby the media. 10 Downing Street is a place of work and mostly offices. Because of the nature of the work, it’s not possible to work from home, so it makes no difference if staff decide to have a little drink to unwind while they are there.
Wardrooms, Officer’s and Sergeant’s messes, along with many other bars and dining facilities remained open across the military estate for much the same reason, that being they are a place of work.
Y’know, I’d have loved it if the bereaved families were armed with milkshakes and/or these people were refused service.
Wonder if that could be a thing, retail/restaurant workers etc refusing to serve anyone caught up in partygate.
