In Szczecin, there’s a chocolate factory “Gryf”, aromas from which regularly cover the city, especially near the river. Yes, Szczecin literally smells like chocolate.

  1. I grew up in Kyiv, Ukraine, not far from what was then called Moscow Square. Right by the intersection stood the city’s most famous and, at the time, largest sweets factory. My school—which I dutifully attended for seven years—was about one kilometer from the factory grounds. Every now and then, when we had the classroom windows open and the wind was blowing in the right direction, the room would fill with the smell of sweets, chocolate, and all sorts of treats. It was a surprisingly pleasant experience.

  2. I was in Szczecin and it smells like piss mixed with some poo and old fish.

    Not recommended.

  3. I’ve been walking along the river yesterday and mention to my brother how much I missed this in London.

  4. And Poznań(especially north-eastern part) often smells like bubblegum, bcs of aromas from wrigleys factory

  5. In Malbork it smells like beetroot (thanks to our sugar factory in the middle of the town)

Although at some point you get used to it

  7. For some time I was living next to Goplana factory in Poznań. And I could smell chocolate almost everyday there.
