The dollar has lost 10% of its value

The U.S. dollar is an early casualty of President Donald Trump’s us-against-the-world trade war.
The dollar has lost almost 10 percent of its value since Inauguration Day, with more than half of that decline coming this month after the president’s decision to lift taxes on imported goods to their highest level since 1909.

The weaker dollar — now near a three-year low against the euro — is bad news for Americans traveling abroad and could also aggravate inflation by making foreign goods more expensive. U.S. exporters, however, should gain.

The drop is especially striking because countries that impose tariffs usually see their currency rise. But the wobbly rollout of Trump’s tariff plans — with the president and his aides contradicting themselves about key details — left investors doubting the administration’s competence.

  1. American here's a tip from my study of Germany between ww1 and ww2. Using a dollar for wallpaper is cheaper than wallpaper and buy a wheelbarrow now(you will need it to carry cash for a loaf of bread). I would say don't ever pick the dictator no matter how bad the economy gets but it's too late. That's the reason your in this situation.

  2. Though I completely agree, I think its not fair to present such information in such a manner. This is clearly targeted for children, and it's not right for them to learn politics off youtube, they should formulate their own opinions! Saying this as a dem

  3. In his first term, trump phoned one of his generals at 3am to ask if a strong or a weak dollar was better for the economy.

I mean, why ask a military general, and not an economist ?!

  4. he just committed a crime on video 😭😭

    i should explain (briefly)

in the us its illegal to damage paper bills for some reason i cant remember why

  5. Better than relying solely on an enemy country to provide our necessities for day to day life. Corporations need to play the ball game or this is going to be a long process.

  6. It’s not “the wobbly rollout” that caused this. It’s the complete and total lack of thought being put into any of this. These tariffs are unnecessary and pointless. He’s starting an insane trade war that has global implications. He’s absolutely destroying our economy. It’s not a “wobbly rollout”, it’s an utter disaster!!! Be more accurate.
