✈️ Today, a Swedish Saab 340 AEW&C aircraft flew over Ukraine, Lviv Oblast. Equipped with the Erieye AESA radar, it can detect targets up to 400 km away and enhance Ukraine’s defense against cruise missiles. Integrated with Link 16, it can relay targeting data directly to F-16s.

  1. This must be a big deal right? EU allies helping Ukraine. Bring it on, fcuk pootin and fcuk ruZZia

  2. Didnt biden disabled link 16 on f-16s because he was afraid Ukraine could win the war?

  3. Except Ukraine’s F-16s don’t have Link 16. The Americans made sure it was removed before delivery. That’s why the IFF isn’t working, and a Ukrainian pilot was shot down by friendly fire.

  4. What kind of range bonus would this give a missile from an F-16?

  5. Nice! I hope that means Gripen is about to show up too

  6. Hopefully this means Ukraine will wipe out some high value targets shortly

  7. Link 16. I remember that. 9 line briefs an all.
    Slava Ukraini

  8. I’m pretty sure I seen this on flight radar with the call sign welcome

  9. Link-16 integration isn’t useful until Ukrainian F-16s can use Link-16, which is still a no-go AFAIK.

  10. It’s a pity that all Link16 stuff were taken out of F-16 given to Ukraine 🙁

  11. It has been known to the public that all F-16 hardware given to Ukraine were de-NATO-ed at the demands of the U.S., including Link 16.

Are French Mirages compatible with this Saab?

  12. 🇺🇦Слава Україні 🇺🇦
    Sláva Ukraíni!
    Heroyam Slava!

  13. it will take (it is taking) time for the Ukranian Army to modernise and integrate all these new weapons. It is happening. All people shouting that UA should have this and that right now should look at this and keep it in mind. How long did it take for britain to prepare to be abble to answer Hilter’s troops? It is similar here. Everyday UA is becoming stronger and more efficient. Everyday russian threat will become less capable of inflicting damage.

  14. By the way, recently I read something (I can’t find the link now) about Sweden in talks with another country (could be Colombia maybe?) to provide them with some Gripen, but replacing the US made engines for Rolls Royce.

So, if the american engines can be replaced that could be very insteresting for Ukraine. And I’ve also read somewhere, months if not a year ago, that Ukraine and Sweden were in talks about the Gripen, even if at moment they were more focused on the F-16.

I don’t know if they have any more american components beside the engines that could hind the deal, or if they could be replaced, though. But if they can do it and solve everything, logistics included, the Gripen is a great option for Ukraine.

  15. sadly the problem with this is that even though it says it in the title, the ukranian f-16s link-16 systems have been removed and were before they entered country this was verified by a pilot interview and a couple other sources. the one I’m not sure about is if the mirage 2000s have has theirs removed.

  16. Not gonna lie but when I seen that picture I thought it was something taken out of the old thunderbirds tv series 🙂

  17. I didn’t know Saab made awacs. Just thought they made the funky fighters

  18. I’m pretty sure we didn’t give L16 to Ukraine

  19. Why doesn’t Europe create a new defense alliance including all of the current Euro NATO members plus Ukraine and Canada, in parallel to NATO? Leave the U.S. out completely, meaning no combat data going to the U.S. either.
