Ekrem Imamoglu: Erdogan’s end has appeared. Turkey’s new government will work with the EU and allies, considering mutual interests, rule of law, and democracy based on human rights. I don’t have the slightest doubt that Turkey will join the EU under our rule

  1. This guy would be great for us in the future. If we ever have any chance of joining the EU, we’ll need serious restructuring in our country as soon as we get rid of our dictator, Erdoğan. Support for socialist democracy in our country is stronger and more popular than ever.

That’s why Erdoğan is now trying to align with the USA and is sending İmamoğlu to jail.
Even Trump said he admires Erdoğan. If Trump admires someone, that person is most probably a dipshit.

  2. Until Erdogan is GONE for GOOD, there should be NO anything for Turkey. Erdogan and Trump and indeed Putin are peas in a pod. This axis of Evil needs dealt with.

  3. Turkey isnt going to join the EU and I dont even think the turks want that

  4. Lets say Turkey resolves every single dispute it has with any european country that would stand in the way of joining the EU (which would require lots of time and unpopular compromises), do turkish people even want to join the EU?

  5. I thought the headline was about Turkey’s new government and got excited.

  6. Isn’t this guy in prison. It’s only a matter of time before Erdogan’s goons will beat him to death. Turkey is done for.

  7. Apart from all the shenanigans, every politician with high vote potential in Turkiye pledges that the country will join the EU under their rule. I doubt it but let’s hope for the best.

  8. It’s weird how hopeful Turkish people are. We are talking about a nation that has been plagued by various issues since any of the commenters were born. Ataturk did create huge progress, but even in the 70’s people were killed on the street and the secular military controlled the nation. Erdogan arrived in a lucky period of economic progress, but made the democracy much worse. Whatever period you point to it’s not exactly EU ready.

I don’t see how anyone watching on can claim that Turkey is just an inch away from being a EU member state as there is just nothing that points to it. Even if you remove Erdogan the population will not all together seek democracy like for example Poland did.

  9. Wait, did Turkey overthrow Erdogan? Did I miss something?

  10. Less than 20% of European people support Turkey joining.

  11. Empty words and promises, it’s too early to join for Turkey due to social differences , Turkey would be ready to eu maybe 50 years later or at least 25 years for sure

  12. Turkey will never join the EU.

Think Hungary is bad, Turkey is infinitely worse.

  13. It weird to see Europeans previously criticizing Turkish people for not defending democracy, now mock Turks taking a stand for being hopeful to reestablish democracy

  14. How are they planning to join the EU when they are actively occupying a european member – state and keep refusing to follow UNCLOS?

I suppose he has a plan for that, it’s just not clear what this plan actually is at the moment

  15. Eu will never accept us and fk eu we dont need them tam bağımsız türkiye amk

  16. calm down europeans, we are not becoming eu member but talking and acting like we will be is better for both sides, dont worry now

  17. I have a massive doubt “that we will ever join the EU” under whomever’s rule (we never will), but that’s beside the point. We need to get rid of the current one, and everything necessarily becomes better. Even the sun will shine brighter, and the birds will sing louder.

  18. He’s going to be in for a really big disappointment when Turkey gets stuck in the waiting room for another ten years before their accession gets vetoed by France.

Turkey isn’t joining the EU. It’s just not going to happen. The European population don’t want it, and European governments much prefer having the Turks on the outside doing their dirty work regarding refugees and so on. Like, imagine if the EU was suddenly directly bordering Syria and northern Iraq?

  19. I admire his optimism, but I do not share it. Germany should continue to withhold the fighter jets until erdo is gone

  20. All things are going according to plan. Thank you agent Erdoganopoulos for your service 🇬🇷

  21. Seems risky. Even if Turkey gets a good leader, for how long? The EU doesn’t need another Hungary.

  22. If Europe applied some economical sanctions to Turkey because of current unlawful stuff they wouldn’t act freely. The EU allows all Erdoğan’s otocratic methods.

  23. >Turkey will join the EU

    there’s a Northern Cyprus-sized issue with that

  24. As a Turk I am 90% sure Turkey wont join. I hope Turkey can change but honestly until the demographics change even I wouldnt want Turkey joining as we would fuck up europe more. That being said as an atheist secular I would prefer to live in Europe until that happens and I just don’t think the turkish people are willing to change or give up their fundamentalist ways in terms of religion. I just want out of this fucking tyranny man.

  25. > Ekrem Imamoglu: Erdogan’s end has appeared.

Perhaps, the future will unfold quite soon.

    > Turkey’s new government will work with the EU and allies, considering mutual interests, rule of law, and democracy based on human rights.

That’s quite the agenda, there is more than a lifetime of changes with only these bullet points.

    >I don’t have the slightest doubt that Turkey will join the EU under our rule.

    Because you’re ignorant.

There are other reasons than Erdogan and his rule as to why the EU membership application of Turkey is around 4 decades old (and frozen since 8 years).

Turkey is further from the EU than it was 2 decades ago, and it won’t certainly even be compatible, even just partially, on values if it had a few decades to change.

Get a grip, repeating this ad nauseam won’t make it true.

And to be honest, it’s just an argument to get votes ; even Imamoglu must know Turkey’s not ready at all, so it’s moot point to offer. Especially since everyone in Turkey will be able to blame the EU, as per usual. Great strategy to get elected I guess.

  26. EU would never allow Turkey to join. Purely to the Cyprus issue alone.

  27. The ultra nationalists would need to be humbled quite a bit, same for the hyper religious.

Turkey won’t be joining the eu for another 10-20 years.
Even if erdoggy were to lose the election, went into retirement quietly, and no major civil unrest broke out.

The current values of the turkish populace is way outside the acceptable range to join the eu.

  28. Joining eu is still impossible. Even with tons of rules there are still tons of radical islamists in turkey

  29. Meh after Erdogan, the next one will be voted in. Maybe not now, but in the next election

  30. I seriously doubt Turkey will ever join. But I’d love to see it happen.

  31. All positive statements but not a hope of turkey joining the EU within the next 100 years.

    It’s a theocratic, authoritarian state!
They need to drop the imaginary friend in the sky and prove some democratic values for a century.
