Well all Countries who are in and around Europe are allowed, but many candidates are currently not fit for EU Membership and might never be or alot of support for EU Membership has waned down, for example Turkey.
The Fact that Net Support by Ger, Fra, Ita, Spa for Ukraine is far higher than for N. Macedonia, Albania and Montenegro is telling, these countries are (for obvious reasons) far better candidates, it helps that they have small populations, 5.5m people combined for them. But understandable that given the situation Ukraine is in currently, the millions of refugees etc., emotions and recency bias and other things play a huge role here for such Polling, the shift compared to 2018 polling is massive. That said i do want Ukraine in the EU, in the future.
It’s also interesting that Net support by Fra, Ita, Ger for Ukraine is similar between +12-16 meanwhile it is +46 in Spain, it seems like alot of Spaniards cannot properly assess the whole Situation due to them chilling far back on the Iberian Peninsula, i reckon it’s that.
In General Spain’s support is very high for many nations, support for Turkey is far higher (although overall -9 still), support for Kosovo, Serbia, Albania, Bosnia HG, N. Macedonia and Montenegro is also far higher than by the other 3, except for Italy’s support for Albania (+2 higher support).
Why do people always include serbia and turkey in these, it is more than clear they don’t want to join. Nor they should be allowed with their current mindsets.
I think Montenegro should be the next to join. It’s a small, stable country with few inhabitants. Joining the EU and, most importantly, grating freedom of movement to its citizens, won’t have such an impact in other EU members.
I support Ukraine joining the EU in the future, once all the reforms get properly done and the country stabilizes.
As for Turkey, I think they should not be allowed to join the EU. It’s a very large country, with lots of people, still developing, with a very different culture and religion, that would have a huge impact in case of joining the Union (especially freedom of movement). Plus, it borders the Middle East and will open the door to new problems and conflicts that will be directly imported into the EU.
I think the country is performing well outside of the Union but closely associated in the way it currently is.
Regarding Albania, I think the country should join the Union as soon as they finish all the reforms that are currently taking place.
I think people are only saying about Ukraine into the EU is because of the horrific situation right now, but that is not a reason to let a country join without going through the proper steps.
If Ukraine wants to join, they should have to go through the procedures as every other country and not just get let in.
however Kazakhstan is making serious improvements, is making important democratic reforms and has expressed the will to have strong ties with the European Union.
so I believe that Kazakhstan could be a nation that can join the European Union in a future where Putin is dead
These that fulfill the conditions for joining. You get help but you have to show first that you can help yourself.
Are there any Data pre Ukraineinvasion about Ukraine approvalrate?
IMO, the EU should think strategically and geographically.
The EU should expand to the following nations and no others; Balkans, Ukraine, Belarus (when its democratic), Moldova, Norway, Iceland, Switzerland, Greenland, UK (if its ever possible).
Turkey and Russia should never be allowed into the EU. They are too big for the project.
why do people don’t like Albania? they are cool, they are in NATO and on russian unfriendly list together with the rest of us, i like them. i hope they join EU in the future together with Montenegro and North Macedonia. fuck Serbia tho 🤮

They should be required to say something nice about NATO and admit that F-117s are indeed invisible but they got lucky and winged one with a flak barrage.
No muslim countries.
No offence, I know we’re emotional & shit, but Ukr should stay out of EU until it resolves some problems.
I still like to see some improvement in the treatment of minorities (let’s not forget that they limited schooling in minority’s languages, including Russian, Romanian, Hungarian, Polish, etc, law was in effect since 2017).
Also, corruption is far worse than we had. So, if EU wants to shoot itself in the foot ….
