Phoned them, can't go to court until an officer has checked my address, can't request an officer because theres none in the area. No other service in the UK requires you to specifically opt out. They harrass you until you subscribe. Thats all it is a monthly subscription same as netflix Disney etc. nothing else threatens and forces you to opt in or out

  5. Unless you need one (sounds like you don’t) then it’s no bother opting out. Took me two minutes to do online.

    I agree they can’t enforce it on you, and I’d be surprised if they took you to court to be honest. But I don’t know the ins and outs of it all. I just opted out as I don’t need the hassle and genuinely don’t need one.

    TV licenses are an absurd idea and are a hangover from a time when only one network ruled the airwaves.

  11. If I remember, there hasn’t been a case that has went to court that’s been prosecuted when people have defended themselves.

    The majority of cases that do go and are in favour of the license are due to people not showing up.

    It’s all a load of nonsense.

  20. You can go to court, go see a lawyer and do it yourself.. you can wait but you don’t have to answer or talk to them as they need physical evidence to claim you need one. By that point you don’t even need a lawyer your word is enough to refute it in court because they have no proof.
