Kate Middleton and Prince William “snubbed” the royal family at Easter this year, and it’s been a whole dramatic thing. And while it was initially reported that the couple wanted to spend a quiet weekend with their kids (per The Sun, “they are choosing to spend time together as a family before the children go back to school”) apparently they did make an appearance at church. Just not the same church as the royal family.
Hello Magazine reports that Kate and William were spotted attending a service at St Mary Magdalene Church in Sandringham with Kate’s parents, Carole and Michael Middleton. No photos were taken, but according to an eye-witness, Kate was in “a long camel coat and a trilby brown hat,” while William wore a “dark suit.”
The outlet also reports that there was a “large crowd of well-wishers eagerly gathering outside the church” to spot the couple and their kids, but they opted to leave via the back entrance and avoid a public sighting.
This comes amid claims that the palace took William and Kate’s decision to skip royal Easter very personally. “This is a big deal,” a source told Us Weekly. “It’s royal tradition for the family to attend this together. Everyone understood the family not attending last year when Kate was sick, but there’s been a lot of raised eyebrows at the Palace about William’s decision to skip again this year. It feels like a deliberate move and even a snub.”
