Migros are asking their customers if they should sell beer and alcohol.

  1. The pages are also available for [German](https://www.migros.ch/de/unternehmen/das-migros-bier-kommt.html) and [Italian](https://www.migros.ch/it/impresa/la-birra-migros-sta-arrivando.html) speakers, obviously.

I, for one, am in favor of them selling alcohol. It’s an arbitrary restriction they put on themselves that may have made sense back in the day, but it’s no longer necessary.

Also, Migros is currently overcomplicating this issue. The thing is, Migros is a large corporation and they have been selling it for years. Everybody knows Denner, everybody knows Galaxus.

It’s simply a matter of whether they will allow selling it in their main stores as well. They should. Those who want to buy booze will find it anyway.

  2. It is the only big supermarket where people with alcohol addiction can shop safely. I would like to keep it that way.

  3. I’m not looking forward to losing shelf space in my Migros to alcohol, when a Denner already exists literally in the same building to satisfy the demand for alcohol. Will probably vote no as it doesn’t seem necessary.

  4. Well coop sells it and honestly i dont see much ppl buying despite the multiple choices they have.

  5. While on the one hand it would be practical to buy all my fondue ingredients in one shop, on the other Migros was founded on a lot of social ideals, and if they abandon this one it may lead to abandoning others.

  6. Customers will vote by buying „yes“ or „no“ beer?

So this isnt really a vote but a huge marketing spectacle?

  7. I for shure hope they wont start selling in the end. I work for the M-Industry and even most workers see it as wrong. We don’t need more places to get alcohol in our country!

  8. Nah – I don’t think they should sell alcohol. We see already a demographic shift in alcohol consumption.

Less and less young adults drink alcohol. They drink less, they get drunk less often and that’s a good thing.

Migros has the opportunity to look extra-attractive to this growing customer segment by keeping their shelfs clear of alcohol.

It is their USP. If they give it up, we can all go to Aldi and Lidl where everything is cheaper…
