    More importantly, if protecting women is the issue here, what happens when a man pretending to be a biological female goes into the women’s bathroom with nefarious intentions?

    And alas, who the fuck cares? If I had an euro for every time one of my girlfriends came into the men’s with me to avoid lines in their own restrooms I’d be a millionaire by now. Live and let live people.

    There are far more important issues in the world and in Europe than this. When are we going to stop being distracted by something that affects a tiny fraction of the population?

    And before anyone says it, no I’m not transphobic. I don’t give a fuck about what’s in your pants or whether you’re on hormonal treatment. Doesn’t matter one bit to me.

    Fwiw, I think the solution to this is to have two rooms. One with urinals, and one with individual cubicles. Anyone is welcome to go into either room.

    If we (in Europe) go into the same rabithole as the US, the EU solution will be very easy: unisex restrooms, just like the restrooms for disabled persons.

  18. As a woman I’ve shared gym and work bathrooms/changerooms with trans women for decades. They have always been shy, often nervous, polite, neat, clean. Everyone minds their own damn business and goes into private cubicles. Wtf is everyone on about?

    In response to the UK Supreme Court’s ruling that a woman is legally defined by biological sex, Bridget Phillipson stopped short of explicitly saying trans women should use the men’s toilets.

    But she told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme: “The ruling was clear that provisions and services should be accessed on the basis of biological sex.”

    Pushed further for clarification on whether a trans woman should use the men’s or women’s toilets she repeated: “The ruling is clear.”

    Meanwhile, Sir Keir Starmer welcomed the ruling in his first comments on the matter, saying it gave “much needed clarity”

  24. It’s really not that hard to create a gender neutral bathroom. In the Philippines they have men, women’s and gender neutral and everyone goes where they are most comfortable.
    This was in an airport that was the size of a shop!

  27. This is NOT A SERIOUS ISSUE! This witch-hunt against trans people is fucking sick and any politican taking part in it should be thrown out of any serious governmental body. Genderless toilets have been a common thing in Sweden and other european nations for years without issues. How is it that only now the necessity of gendered toilets and the issue of trans people have spontaneously appeared?

    It’s not an issue, it’s disguised persecution.
