    As you know, nearly one-hundred (100) years ago in 1929, the Great Depression commenced. Herbert Hoover was president and the Smoot-Hawley tariffs were created and implemented to be a remedy. It never happened until Franklin Delano Roosevelt became president for four (4) terms until he passed in office. Fast forward to 2025 and we see a U.S. president in Trump and issue tariffs vis-a-vis executive orders. The American Stock Market plummeted dramatically and the list of worth over several days of plummeting was estimated to be in the vicinity of six (6) trillion dollars. Thus, the retirement plans of millions of Americans were devalued substantially and it happened abruptly. Furthermore, the Treasury Bond Market has now become unstable. This has contributed to the apparent economic instability that is currently happening in America. Is there a prospect for economic-recovery? It doesn’t appear to be going to happen anytime soon. The decision to apply tariffs to every country on the planet was probably the worst presidential policy decision since Hoover supported the Smoot Hawley tariffs nearly one-hundred years ago in my humble opinion. 40. The truth is, the fault of the tariffs lies with Congress. The Constitution gives the power to control tariffs to Congress. Article 1 section 8 states : "Congress shall have the power to lay and collect taxes, duties, imports and excises . . ." If Congress weren't made up of cowards none of this would be happening. Trump has zero self awareness. He most likely has no idea what he is doing but he continues to blame everyone but himself for his own failings. He carries the same delusional thinking into foreign affairs. He really thinks everyone is ripping off the US. And he will continue to blame Joe Biden.
