This article conflates switching to renewables with winning the climate fight. We might be installing record amounts of renewable energy, but meanwhile the rate of CO2 concentration increases is accelerating, not even leveling off.
Tipping points have tipped. Unstoppable feedback loops have been triggered. I’m no expert but all this tech optimism is just smoke and mirrors. Install all the renewables you want it’s still going to get really bad.
this sub is so cooked
were really just posting fossil industry propaganda now and expecting accolades
If you believe this I feel bad for you

Lol! Who could actually type out that bullshit headline with a straight face?
We *were* winning. Not anymore. Consider the current administration, which is laying waste to solar and wind. It is also opening our state forests to logging, and giving free reign to oil companies for expanded rights in the Gulf and formerly protected waters in Alaska.
Unless something is done to prevent it, the next four years could destroy what we have fought so hard to attain.
That sweet sweet hopium.
Of course it’s from Vox
It’s not bad news – the question with all of these things is still “will it be enough?” For my opinion, I suspect the answer is no and that we need more, but I’d defer to someone with better data and modeling.
I’m specifically thinking we need better adoption of mass electric transit (or at least EVs), innovation of green/low carbon/no carbon emission concrete/cement, and then other green aircraft/freight shipping innovations.
Advocate. Don’t Panic. Action, not feelings.
(OK, you can panic in private if you want if it’ll help you get it out of your system, this is still all pretty dire).
Lmao!
We will have won on scorched earth, with not much left to go.
Soooo much winning, I can’t stand it.
They keep electing Trump
Renewables don’t actually displace FF on their own, they just add to the overall energy throughout of humanity. We could reach 95% renewables and still be chugging an apocalyptic amount of FF if current global economy growth projections for this century are accurate.
Malthusian population arguments are a scam. A small minority of humanity produces/consumes 90% of all energy.
Violent suppression of infinite growth economic systems is the only way out of multi-continental and pan-oceanic ecological collapse in the next couple of centuries.
