The Cyprus Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced: “Cyprus unequivocally condemns the heinous Pahalgam Terrorist Attack in Jammu and Kashmir. We express our full solidarity to the Government and the people of India. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims and all those injured.”
Twenty-eight people, mostly tourists, were killed on Tuesday in a terrorist attack in the Baisaran Valley, a scenic area in Pahalgam of Jammu and Kashmir, northwest India.
The remote, high-altitude location is accessible only by foot or horseback, is often dubbed “mini-Switzerland” for its natural beauty.
Authorities deployed a helicopter for evacuation, while locals used ponies to help bring the injured down from the meadows. At least 12 tourists were admitted to Pahalgam hospital, with doctors confirming that all were in stable condition.

Families were enjoying their holidays when Islamist militants opened fire, killing and injuring dozens. The injured were rushed to hospitals. Many were still in shock and distress.
Witness accounts suggested the assailants singled out non-Muslims, asking victims to recite the kalma and checking for circumcision. Those who failed were shot.

The Resistance Front (TRF), a proxy outfit of the banned Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), claimed responsibility for the assault.
According to officials, preliminary investigations suggest that the attackers may have infiltrated from Kishtwar in Jammu and made their way to Baisaran via Kokernag in South Kashmir, highlighting a possible cross-region movement and raising fresh concerns about militant infiltration routes.
US President Donald Trump called Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier today to offer his condolences for the victims of the Islamist terror attack.
