LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) – Small business owners will have the opportunity to bring their services and ideas to some of Calcasieu Parish’s largest non-industry companies next week.
The city is partnering with Chennault International Airport, the Port of Lake Charles, Lake Charles Regional Airport, and the Calcasieu Parish School Board. Each will be on site to hear from small business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs.
“When small businesses participate in contracting opportunities with larger agencies, we know it helps build the capacity of small businesses,” Assistant City Administrator Kimberly Dellafosse said.
Dellafosse said any small business can attend and connect with these agencies.
“If your business is in this particular area and you get an opportunity to meet with an agency at the business event, that allows you to know that contract opportunities are available with this particular agency, that just gives you the content you need to further develop your business,” said Dellafosse.
Chennault Executive Director Kevin Melton said they are open to consulting contracts with small business owners as they look to expand facilities.
“But there’s certainly always opportunities for people to come out here and do work with us, do work for the airport, and that’s one of the ways that we give back to the community because we do provide opportunities for consultants and contractors to come out here and do an excessive amount of work,” said Melton.
The event is free, and no registration is needed to attend. It is set for 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 30, at Lake Charles City Hall.
