I was given this sausage by my stepdad, he said it’s German and very expensive. Idk what that is. My girlfriend recently pulled it out of the freezer to use the ‘food we had’ (not happy because I wanted to figure this out first so it doesn’t go bad) but I have no idea what it is, so now I have this thawed sausage and NO IDEA what to do with it, does anyone know what this is so I can put it in a recipe?

  2. I have no idea what this is, but if you’re an East German, you might try to make Jägerschnitzel from this. And if you’re a West German, you would get offended by the mere insinuation

  4. Definitely not expensive, looks like Fleischwurst/Lyoner/Schinkenwurst of some sorts. Make a Wurstsalat.

  6. If I see it correctly, it’s just normal sausage (Schinkenwurst)? I guess you can remove the red peel, cut it into thin slices, then put it on a bread?

    Don’t have to eat it all at once though, it’s quite much.

  7. If it was in the freezer and hopefully still is until this point, i suggest to cut a thin slice first and fry it in a pan. Just for checking out if its still good and how it’s tastes.

    Ideas: cut in cubes and fry it with pepper, onions and garlic, later on chopped tomatoes (can) to get a thick sauce. Then some good noodles with cheese on top.

    Otherwise just google or ask chat gpt for soljanka. It’s a very east german thing, in detail a sausage soup.

    Btw, Germany has already reached it’s health recommended meat consumption limit by Mid of April. This sausage alone seems to cover a whole month

  9. Cut the sausage and some potatoes in chunks and fry them until a bit crispy (like pan-fried potatoes) then add some spices and tomato purée, add some crispy fried onions for garnish.
