  3. He might be lying, but he might also be running out of steam. With his economy tanking, and one of their largest ammo stores blowing up today, Ukraine pumping out drones faster then ever before, along with Ukraine manufacturing long range drones that are reaching Russians hinder-land, right now might be a good for him to call it quits.

Any type of proposition that allows Russia to sit on their new gains and consolidate is a victory for them and a defeat for Ukraine, especially since Zelenksy’s government still defines the aim of the war as returning the occupied land. which is partly why any talks of a ceasefire have shriveled out. This is just Putin pretending to be vaguely amicable. It is on par with Hitler offering the UK peace terms after the fall of France. At the time it seemed to make sense but in hindsight it would have been idiotic for the UK to make peace. Ukraine accepting even a ceasefire will come at an unnaceptable cost of legitimatizing Russian control over their lands.

    Humans are fickle and unfortunately it would be easy for Putin and Russia to whitewash this travesty if Ukraine was censored and forced to accept their own decimation. Which it would have to do if it was to negotiate and accept these new borders, the whole point of this war is a conflict between the definitions of these two countries borders. So to sign into existence Russian control of Ukranian territory is in effect admitting a defeat.

    Russia cannot be given approval for their aggressive military actions, and the inability of the west to pull them up on such actions is largely why Putin felt like he could afford to invade a sovereign democratic country, and unfortunately the west has shown themselves to be a much weaker and less moral version of their 1930’s selves.

    There is much criticism about how other countries ignored the crimes of the Third Reich, but when they invaded Poland most of the west reacted and unified against them. Yet Russia can invade and begin ethnically cleansing Ukraine by stealing and shipping off their children for re-education and the west worries about Zelenksy not saying thank you for the bare minimum of support?

    Clearly the west is still too divided and self centred to fully understand why a defeat for Ukraine is a defeat to the west, and one that will shape future events for the next few decades worth of politicking. If Russia can get away with just biting off a piece of Ukraine then it opens up a world of future potential conflicts.

  7. It’s simple. Ukraine goes into NATO and if there are no ambitions to invade again, then it should be no problem.
