  8. I would like to enjoy a community day, but St George’s Day (as well as the flag) has been appropriated by white supremacists and colonialists so it’s just a big ick. Shame.

  9. I’ve lived in England my whole like and never once thought to celebrate St George’s day. Who are all these people? Don’t they work in the day or do they take days off to celebrate?

  10. Glorious. Not a single red, bald, head sat on neck fat on sight!

  11. As a full blooded Englishman, I can’t tell you how much this day inspires me to feel such enormous indifference and apathy…

    … happy St George’s day!!!!

  12. Happy St George’s Day, from Scotland. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

  15. The absolute state of this comment section just shows how broken and divided Britain is when half the comments are critising England, StGeorges day and English flags

  16. St Cuthbert should be the true Patron Saint of England

    Had visions and angel visits

Healed the sick just by touch

Prayed in the sea—otters kept his feet warm

Predicted invasions and his own death

Body found preserved years after burial

His relics healed people for centuries

Monks carried his coffin for 100+ years to protect it from Vikings who wanted his magic

Wherever it stopped, miracles broke out

Chose Durham from beyond the grave

    Protected northern England after death

Dun Cow literally showed monks where to build his cathedral

United rival churches (Celtic + Roman)

People prayed to him to stop plagues

Massive lands ruled in his name—Cuthbert’s Land

Durham bishops acted like warlords for him

His banner led armies to victory

Kings swore oaths at his shrine

Fugitives hid in his church and were judged by his power

William the Conqueror got a vision telling him to back off

    Miracles kept happening for generations

Basically ruled the North from the grave

And on top of it all, he was born in England. St George can f-off

  17. I wish there was something to do on this day. The Welsh pin a leek or a daffodil on them the Irish get annoyed at plastic paddy the Scottish get a day off

We get people saying “bet someone complains”

At what? We do fuck all.

  18. As a member of the Church of England, I will be celebrating St George’s day on Monday.

  19. Thought it was the 28th this year?

Have a nice pint, enjoy some cloudy overcast afternoon and be thankful we live in a country where you can claim you are being persecuted/arrested for waving your flag despite no basis for that in reality.

It should be a bank holiday.

  20. Happy St. George’s day, from a neighbour across the Severn bridge.

  21. As a Brit, living in Britain, with full access to the internet, I would like to say

I completely forgot it was St George’s Day today

  22. It’s dragon remembrance day and you know it! 😹❤️
