  1. Ah, Ken, we know you like publicity. I’m assuming you will be up in arms when they don’t open books of condolence for other religious leaders. Plenty of religious buildings that can have books of condolence for the Pope.

  2. >Independent Ireland Deputy Ken O’Flynn

I’m sure Ken would feel the same way if it was the leader of any other religion…….

  3. In before the inevitable “Yeah???!!! If this was the Ayatolah it’d be open!!!”

  4. Do it yourselves you freaks

Why should the council do anything for a religion?

  5. I thought II was supposed to be a common sense party? Doesn’t sound like common sense to me.

  6. “There is simply no reason why Cork City Council cannot follow the example of City Councils elsewhere in the country who have opened a Book of Condolence- especially for people who live on the south side of the city,”

So the implication is that that south siders won’t cross the river to sign a book of condolence in a cathedral about 2km away?

The northside/southside divide in Cork is clearly a lot worse than we thought!

  7. I live in Cork and I am far from outraged. Quite the opposite, I’m happy we are not wasting paper on this individual.

  8. A man who is incredibly important to thousands of people in the city has died. Open a book.

  9. Sure he isn’t going to be able to read it anyway. He’s brown bread. Dopes.

  10. They can open a book when the church pays for the abuse in the laundries, schools and mother and baby homes.

  11. An odd take. And I would say that as someone who considers themselves a practicing Catholic. Bp Gavin opened a book in the Cathedral. Go to the Cathedral.

  12. For fucks sake now he won’t even have a chance to read what people of Cork think of him 😭
