With all the best intentions I can put behind this statement:
Oh my god I so very much do not give a shit about the orientation/gender identity of actors and actresses. Why do we care? Honestly we just need to start letting this stuff become a nonfactor in our lives. Here’s the only question that matters: are they good at what they do?
I *completely* understand why they didn’t want it to be headline news, but I’m kind of glad it was for my sake. I’ve been struggling with my gender for years and always assumed non-binary folks basically had to be totally androgynous or it “doesn’t count”. Seeing how Bella is presents a bit more feminine while still considering themselves NB gave me a big boost in confidence and the courage to accept myself. I still haven’t come out to anyone aside from my therapist (literally list night) but hey, baby-steps.
They absolutely do no deserve the hate they’re getting online, but that kind of goes without saying.
