Who else is in favour of this in London?

  1. I wholeheartedly agree, but can’t wait to see how this gets enforced.

  2. Add in loud phone calls that never end on the bus while we’re at it.

  3. They really should have better things to be doing. I don’t support this at all. If TFL etc want to ban it, and police it themselves, then cool, let them do it. Don’t tell them. It’s getting into territory like that stupid idea for smoking bans in pub gardens. If pubs want to ban it, they will. Because they’d have to enforce it.

*fuck off downvoters. You’re just not living in reality 🤣 Simply making something illegal doesn’t stop it, especially when there is no will to enforce it. How many times do you smell weed walking down the road lol? TfL don’t even stop people pushing through the ticket barriers, why the fuck would they care about something like this?

  4. I really want to like the Lib Dems, but what fucking planet do they live on. This is either nakedly cynical pandering of the ‘how do you do fellow kids’ variety, or so disconnected from reality as to be laughable.

The UK has sooooo many serious problems. Fucking PLEASE talk about something meaningful as a major opposition party.

  5. Pretty sure you’re not allowed to smoke crack or hop barriers on public transport, so while this would be great in principle, until something changes with enforcement, it is for naught.

  6. My colleague’s car was stolen within view of council CCTV and the police wouldn’t investigate. My cousin was burgled and the police didn’t investigate as there was “nothing they could do” but we’re supposed to believe they would enforce a ban on some prick watching TikTok on the train? Joke

  7. “Let’s ban the outcome and not address the myriad root problems undermining the public sphere”. Ridiculous policymaking.

  8. Who else is in favour of this, not just in London but in every single mode of public transport in the world? Basically everyone who isn’t a massive cunt.

But it doesn’t matter because the enforcement of cunts will be far too difficult for TfL or BTP to manage.

They can’t even enforce the prevention of assaults on public transport.

Any party promising this is just going after low hanging fruit, unless they have a plan to sufficiently enforce this, and address how they will train enforcement agents on how to deal with the cunts who do this and get violent when confronted, it’s all just pissing in the wind

  9. kind of sucks how we have to ban things rather than just rely on the decency of people. Says a lot about our culture in this country really. makes me dislike it more and more every day

  10. Annoying, but most of those who play music or other sounds on public transport don’t do that loudly. Some people who talk on the phone or any group of teenagers can be much more disruptive of quiet. The behaviour should still be sanctioned of course because it remains annoying and is fundamentally disrespectful. Even though it might be difficult to enforce, introducing an official penalty can go a long way in setting the tone and bringing clarity.

With that said, this campaign remains I must say remains a bit whacky overall. Isn’t it a bit dissonant that people playing music on a bus could be fined while buskers and preachers outside of Stratford station would still be allowed to blare noise into our ears using literal loudspeakers?

  11. Yeah this sounds like a nice idea but not sure it will be workable to enforce. Trusty ‘ol Lib Dem haha

  12. I’d rather they enforce people jumping barriers and fair dodging first before enforcing a ban on loud noise.

  13. Great idea and all but this is so far removed from the liberal ideology that the lib dems supposedly promote that it gives me major ick.

  14. Stupid irrelevant party putting out dumb policies to convince people who never take the bus anyways

  15. Doesn’t seem very liberal to criminalise being an annoying twat in public. There’s lots of things people do that irritate me but that doesn’t mean I think they should be arrested for it. Seems like a cheap ploy to get attention but then that’s always been the modus operandi for the Lib Dems.
