“Partner”
American is definitely a bully, but no way does China want or need to “partner” with Canada to fight the US. China’s hoping to beat the US to annexation, they’re just calling it “cooperation”
The same China that was building secret police stations on Canadian soil to montier Chinese nationals living in Canada? That China?

China’s ambassador says Beijing is offering to form a partnership with Canada to push back against American “bullying,” suggesting the two countries could rally other nations to stop Washington from undermining global rules.
“We want to avoid the situation where humanity is brought back to a world of the law of the jungle again,” Chinese Ambassador Wang Di told The Canadian Press in a wide-ranging interview.
Trump says negotiatons are going well with China. He means for Canada.
Nah fuck that, I’m good with sticking to the EU.
I don’t think Reddit realizes just how many Canadians are for this. And that should be a point of deep reflection to Americans. When America is less appealing to work with than China, you know you have SERIOUS issues. Beyond that it should be recognized that this new financial order, which will likely expand to include Europe, etc, (and effectively cut America off from the rest of the world) is Trumps doing…obviously…and VERY obviously he and his team didn’t think about any of this ahead of time.
Remember when Canada and China were disputing over that Huawei exec? Yeah me neither.
Trump truly creating world peace lol
Snuggling up with a bully to fight a bully, is not in Canada’s best interest.
Why the fuck not I hope we’re not naive about it that’s all.
are they suggesting that a president as successful as Donald Trump has been in “business” may have stepped on the upturned rake that is tariff policy?
Teaming up with China has risks so we should proceed cautiously, because the US isn’t an option anymore. This can work. I’m interested in hearing more.
It’s a sad day in hell when Canada can relate to China more then the USA
Trump really should win the Nobel peace prize. He is unifying the planet in a way only an alien invasion was thought to be able. Being so terrible the whole world needs a group hug.
Problem here is we really don’t want Chinese influence.Their style of government is oppressive, corrupt and plain evil. Look at the endless bullshit with regards to Taiwan. They are just an Asian version of Russia but with money.
We do business but allies we ain’t.
Hey Repubs, do you get it? Do you get it yet? Tariffs not only put a sales tax on all Americans but they’re pushing our largest trading partner and biggest ally towards China. China and Russia hate us.
That’s great. Will China also stop bullying other countries?
Pretty much every country in the world is living a toxic high school experience.
The enemy of my enemy is my friend- plain and simple
Nothing wrong with seizing an opportunity to prosper on an economic level. It does not mean that Canada needs to be best friends with China. Better to be in a position with more options than less… Let’s see how smart Canadians are
I hope the world punches Trump et al right in their collective micropenises.
I’ll never understand how some people are painting China as some sort of a good guy. The Chinese government are bullies with fragile egos, I wouldn’t trust them one bit.
But this is the world’s fault, we basically got complacent with Chinese cheap labor and guess what?, we depend so much on them that they hold immense power.
The same China that’s been bullying Filipino fishermen?
Incoming BYD cars
As a Taiwanese Canadian. I’m understand China rightfully retaliating against the US, and honestly wouldn’t mind them taking the US down a peg. I also recognize it is in our economic interest to have trade with China and for now they are somehow more sane than the US administration. But doesn’t mean I like them or welcome the influence. If we had a choice we would want to be best friends with the EU.
Though— Maybe offer your friendship again once you can assure us China will stop trying to invade Taiwan and helping Russia… or trying to sway our elections conservative.
As a Canadian I don’t want to align our country with China, I do want to support North American industry. But does seem like we have to walk away from America until they remove the current administration and its burgeoning “dear leader”. Would rather see us align with EU or commonwealth. It’s a shame we have to walk away from America. Oh well, it’s on them, and we have all the resources they need.
As a Canadian, that sounds really nice. If only we could trust China to respect our sovereignty, stop trying to buy out our country, and quit setting up up secret police stations, and executing Canadians for no reason.
China could easily be the world’s singular superpower if we didn’t know about all the shitty things they do… or… y’know, if they simply didn’t do shitty things. I don’t care that they’re communist instead of democratic, I care that they do bad things… which to be fair… the US does, and has been doing too.
Aren’t foreign investors, including large contributions from the Chinese, helping to cause the massive housing crisis in Canada?
We should be strategic with China. The US has lost its fucking mind.
