Don’t drink it, You’ll be out there cutting the grass by 4pm!
It is basically the same as rehydration drinks.. a scientist in India taught all the mums in his state to make a simple rehydration drink with boiled water sugar and salt and it completely stopped under 2’s dying and being hospitalised with sickness and diarrhoea which was previously the biggest killer of under 2’s in the area.
Why 7-Up? I understand Ginger Ale since ginger has some medicinal properties but 7-Up is kind of confusing.
Boiled and cooled red lemonade was our go-to.
Must just be a parent thing, I’m American and my mother and grandmother did this for me all the time
It was red lemonade in our house, left go flat and heated up in a pot. Don’t think the brand exists anymore 🙁
After 8 years in Ireland I still don’t know how you flatten 7up on demand and at this point am too afraid to ask.
Good old Irish medicine. My mam would always give me a hot whiskey when I got a cold, hated it at the time, now I can’t get enough of the medicine. I also remember playing GAA in school and injuring a back muscle, teacher brought me in a bottle of poitin and told me to take it home and mix it with some olive oil and rub it into the back. I went with the aural solution!!
It’s a cure all
Did it help
And I bet by 15:00 you’ll be fighting fit and ready for the hard stuff.
If doesn’t work anymore since they took most of the sugar out of it. Fairly sure the only drinks left with the full sugar are the original Coke and the Club Orange/Lemon/Rock Shandy drinks. Also EXTREMELY important to know if you’re trying to give them to a diabetic who needs sugar fast.

Your mother probably sent him up with it?

Nice enjoy it. I wish my father was still around for things like that. Although it was usually brandy and port
A colleague of mine says they boil the 7up in their household.
