  2. Wouldn’t blame anyone for leaving now, I’m here many years now but the thought is in the back of my head.

With the cost of general living, insurance, fuel, housing or just about anything relevant to quality of life, Ireland is on its way to becoming wage poor relative to costs.

You can add planning as another economic bottleneck. The country just lost out on a massive investment from Intel.

    More on that:

“Even the state’s own housing projects have big affordability questions hanging over them.

“New cost-rental homes will leave tenants spending 40% of wages on rent”

  4. The housing crisis will stain the history of FG for decades, nobody could claim it is easy to solve but they’ve refused to treat it like an emergency and act accordingly, because it is their own kind who are benefitting mostly from it.

  5. the people in council houses now or in the future will be grand. it’s the private renters who are fucked. moral of the story? be poor, or rich, but never in the middle

  6. OK what’s the problem?

Everywhere online I see people complain that we are ‘obsessed’ with home ownership and should be more like the continent where people apparently rent their whole lives.

Surely this is in line with new trends?

  7. How to funnel the wealth into the hands of less and less people 101

the percentage of landlords in goverment too. lining their own pockets. but by all means lets keep voting in the same shitehawk parties

  8. All the middle class redditors shocked that not everyone is able to get and pay off a mortgage at some point in their lives.

There has never been such a thing as 100% of people living in a home they own. That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t aim for 100% being the goal but old people having to rent or live with family members has always been a fact of life for a lot of people.
