CHESTER, W.Va. — The Hilltop Drive-In Movie Theatre in Chester is celebrating its 75th season with a grand reopening this weekend.

The theatre will officially open on Friday with movies starting at 8:15 p.m. each night. For the opening weekend, gates will open early at 6 p.m., but will revert to a 7:15 p.m. opening time after the weekend.

In addition to movies, the theatre is introducing “Entertainment Days” at least once a month, starting at 6 p.m. on select Saturdays. These events will feature activities such as karaoke and tribute bands, offering something for everyone.

“We are going to create a carnival atmosphere for the kids,” said Roy Pittinger, the theatre’s owner. “We have cornhole, a little bit of golfing, maybe some basketball hoop and stuff. That’s for pre-movie activities for the kids. A reason to come out earlier at 6 versus 8 when the movie starts. Also, we will have karaoke, DJs, and towards the end of the year, we have some tribute bands out of Pittsburgh for the trunk or treat towards the end.”

To kick off the weekend, the theatre will be showing “The Minecraft Movie” and “The King of Kings,” with karaoke beginning at 6 p.m. on Friday.
