Are these two issues connected, by any chance..? 🤔

  1. I say let’s give the bears a shot at it. They’re not foreign, so the language barrier shouldn’t be an issue.

  2. Unfortunately, the forest industry is suffering from the loss of forest workers caused by bears.

Replacing professionals eaten by bears with machines is an expensive task.

  3. This is a normal thing with bears currently. The exact process happens in Estonia. Not enough hunting licenses for bears = population growth.

What is disturbing is the amount of wolves, they come from Russia, and their amount always grows in Russia during war periods.

  4. The Holy Protector, King of The Forest, The Great Otso Honey-Paw protects our forests from the greedy!

  5. This is a chance for all those women who claimed they would “choose the bear” to have a lucrative career in logging in Finland.

  6. Foreign workers, you say? Well, feel free to be inspired by your big brother. In Sweden we managed to pull this immigration thing off really smoothly.

  7. First one is not an issue, its the solution to the second one. We teach the bears to do maintenance jobs in forestry.

  8. The bear issue is simple consequence of not actually allowing hunting of bears anymore (except reindeer related). The greens in Finland have caused a unique interpretation of EU law so that permits are not given anymore. One bear hunting permit was given in 2024.

Forestly sector “news” simply means that companies that pay poor salary can’t get workers. Same as “lack of workers” (työvoimapula) in other sectors. Lack of employers paying reasonable salary (industry common problem) or so poor working conditions that all quit very fast (healthcare common problem). We have hundreds of thousands of unemployed workers in Finland.

  9. I heard from people working in forestry that the rising number of bears is causing fear and anxiety for some workers.

  10. Yes they are. Bears are becoming part of workforce. And they are joining labour unions.
