This will probably get lost in the comments, but I think that jobs like ICE, Police, and the like are important to have, provided they are utilized properly. The issue is that jobs like this attract people who WANT to do jobs like this. ICE attracts people who hate immigrants and see removing them as a pleasure. Police departments likewise attracts the people who want to get into the arrest business. They find it fun to whip their gun out, Chace people down, manhandle people, put them in handcuffs, etc…. you don’t see as many people wanting to become police officers for the community service aspect or seeing themselves as the communities last defense against corruption in the departments. You don’t see people joining ICE with the desire to preserve the immigration statuses of the people who deserve to be hear while also really actually sifting through thoroughly before making any kind of arrest.
These intense jobs attract people with cowboy attitudes and zero emotional intelligence.
