If you see the licorice . com vending machine, DO NOT buy their Finnish licorice.

  1. I saw this vending machine at the Century City Mall in Los Angeles. Not sure if it exists anywhere else but I was so surprised to see Finnish licorice that I thought I’d try it despite the high price tag. Big mistake.

This might be the worst candy I’ve ever had. They say the product is made in Finland but I highly doubt that. The licorice has almost no flavor, it’s barely even black, and worst it’s completely overpowered by the taste of Splenda. Probably because it’s sixth ingredient is Sorbitol Syrup.

I’m by no means a licorice expert but this stuff is truly awful and overpriced. The best thing I can say about it is that the packaging is nice. Avoid at all cost.

  2. The first red flag should have been “vending machine” licorice. Licorice is a fresh product that you should eat while it’s soft and moist. As a side note, there is no such thing as Finnish red. 🙂

Best guess: it’s a company (Finnish or American or something else entirely) trying to sell American style licorice, and doing it badly, using the marketing guise of exotic foreign candy.
