The problem is that this potentially is true for the next two years only until the next Trump-like president gets elected who will then turn the US’s foreign policy by 180 degrees. (Let’s say 170, because China seems to be the only thing they can agree on).
Angela Merkel once said “The vector sum of all political decisions is zero” and the US is a perfect example of that.
Edit: OK seems she only said “Political decisions are the vector sum of all interest groups” and then climate scientist Hans Joachim Schellnhuber said that this sum is zero.
I really hope things stay like this. Europe and America are way stronger together.
As long as I don’t see the Russian flag waving in my country it’s ok
I don’t think the French agree with that.
I doubt Europeans are stupid enough to fall for this. The president seems to be utterly irrelevant in the USA, just different hats on the same establishment. And that establishment absolutely sees the EU as a rival.
It has 3 major geopolitical enemies, China (full spectrum enemy, hard, soft and economic), Russia (a soft power enemy) and the EU (an economic enemy).
Bloody yanks. You cant trust the Americans. European nations must stand strong together.
He still hasn’t even undone the steel tariffs, but rather just took the opportunity provided by trumps trade war nonsense to implement some arbitrary bullshit quota system that neither achieves anything meaningful for the US nor satisfies allies. Also it breaks WTO rules.

Just allies of convenience at times
