A webinar held on Wednesday 24 April 2025 highlighted the deepening cooperation between Norway and Vietnam in the fields of marine spatial planning (MSP), ocean governance, and sustainable development.

Organised by the Norwegian Embassy in Hanoi, the event featured expert speakers from the Norwegian Institute of Marine Research who shared Norway’s decades-long experience in balancing ocean resource use with long-term ecosystem protection. The webinar served as a dynamic forum for exchanging ideas and strategies to support Vietnam’s implementation of its Marine Spatial Planning Framework.

Deputy Head of Mission at the Norwegian Embassy, Mette Møglestue, underscored the critical importance of integrating diverse stakeholders from sectors such as fisheries, energy, tourism, and environmental protection.

“Only effective cooperation ensures that planning criteria and implications are well understood across sectors, promoting spatial synergies and resolving conflicts,” she stated.

The event is part of Norway’s ongoing support for Vietnam’s efforts to establish a sustainable approach to marine governance. Norway reaffirmed its commitment to continue close collaboration with Vietnamese authorities and partners to help deliver strong, smart, and impactful outcomes.

The webinar drew a wide range of participants and sparked lively discussions, reflecting the strength and mutual benefit of the Norway–Vietnam partnership in advancing sustainable ocean management.
