Funnily enough. I know more people that have had it in the last 2 months, than people that had it in the previous 18ish month.
And in 12 hours time not legally enforceable either. Thank fuck.
He’ll change his tone when half the country is disabled
Aren’t the majority of people in hospital with COVID not in there **because** of COVID. They went in for something else and tested positive in there?
As expected.
The whole point was to vaccinate then get on with it. Lets stick to the plan and not double the massive inflation already happening
Self-prevention is key to this
Good man. No one is stopping anyone from wearing a mask right now so go ahead if you feel safer. Choice is a good thing.
I think he’s right, there’s no stopping this wave. The ICU number has been pretty much flat for months. Other countries have seen the number drop as precipitously as they’ve risen. If you don’t feel safe then stay at home and/or wear a mask.
I wonder when the requirement to self-isolate will go away? We’re obviously as a country now taking the attitude of this being all but over, which I’m all for, but at what stage does Covid get relegated to the status of just another respiratory virus?
Obviously I hope that the general idea of staying home and avoiding people when you’re ill never goes away.
This is what the Barrington Proposals looks like at this time point. I think implementing them at any other time point in the Pandemic would have been politically unacceptable but it now appears that it’s something that is worth the political risk. Either through a combination of fatigue with restrictions, the economic implications of restrictions, or whatever, the public seems to be ok with the current status quo. The interesting thing is that the impact on non Covid healthcare is nowhere near as bad as at the height of the pandemic, but also non Covid healthcare is no where near what it should be to call it “normal service”. To contextualise that conversation, it is also worth pointing out that non Covid healthcare has massive backlogs of work now being out through a system that already had created long waiting lists.
Tldr: Expect all waiting lists and non Covid Healthcare to continue to struggle. Whether this is reason enough to reintroduce limited restrictions such as mask wearing on public transport, social distancing etc etc and whether this would have any mean impact is up for debate, but so far the concensus seems to be no.
Well I have only just recovered from getting covid last week. I’m young, very fit and fully vaccinated and holly fucking shit it almost put me in the hospital. This dumb bitch needs to out measures back into place because they are justified! Fucking idiot.
He’s completely correct. Any attempt to stop the pandemic now without a global response is just kicking the can down the road. If we, god forbid, went back to Level 5 tomorrow, all we’d be doing is having this same conversation when we reopen. Sadly, there will always be “vulnerable” people.
The globe, bar a handful of nations, bottled their response to this pandemic and there’s no chance of putting it back in the box now.
Get boosted, make sure your friends and families get boosted. Reduce your chances of getting seriously ill and continue to isolate when you feel sick.
I can’t see the sense in ruling out even basic public health measures point blanc. Just because a lot of people are “done” with Covid, doesn’t mean Covid is “done” with us.
Can’t sit through another covid isn’t a cold thread. G’luck arguing with the incels
Whatever your view on covid.
Don’t verbally harass people that choose to wear a mask.
I have had two people come into the office this week with a “cold”. Not once did either wear a mask and they went to other peoples desks and got into lifts with people. Both insisted it was only a “cold”, they had negative antigen tests. Both called in sick a day or two later saying it was in fact actually Covid. Some people are beyond brain dead and havent learned a single thing these last two years.
I am also seeing people in the shopping centers, maskless, coughing their lungs up and not even covering their mouths. They then proceed to man handle as many items on shelves as they can find. Sometimes youd just like Putin to drop that nuke!
I tested positive on an antigen test today.
Can we not just abolish the virus like we did water charges?
