  1. If asked before but that’s what fait accompli is for.

  2. “unlikely” seems a mild statement for a completely crazy idea

  3. Having the word “unlikely” in this conversation is really psychedelic, to be honest. In a normal world, you would expect them to 100% disregard this talk , but then again, they’re not really normal.

  4. “unlikely to back invasion”, says parliament chamber minority, now that’s some decisive leadership. Thanks guys!

  5. The problem is the US Congress relinquished too much power to the executive branch since wwii. US presidents can easily basically wage wars now without Congressional approval as long as they don’t call it a war.

  6. That’s hilarious to think they will have a say in the matter. The Constitution is more like suggestions these days.

  7. Unlikely – so there’s still a possibility? What a fucking bunch of wankers

  8. I totally trust the US congress to contain the orange turd /s

  9. I feel like anytime i go out in a limb to defend democrats someone says something like this that shows that outside of a few key figures (like booker and aoc) they don’t really understand the seriousness of the historical moment. Like they will freak out in fundraising emails but they don’t really see us “actually” in the early stages of a full fascist takeover

  10. “Unlikely” god I hate being an American sometimes. I stand with and support the European Union.

  11. What im more worried about. Does we get Greenland back once its taken.

This defense cooperation agreement here signals that this Greenland takeover would have happened sooner or later without Trump https://www.state.gov/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/17-1017-Iceland-Defense-Coop-Notes.pdf also use deepl for that one

Dont trust the yanks. Doesnt matter if R or D. Because Ds will fold sooner or later when its the US vs Allies. US always wanted Greenland, thats nothing new. As soon as EU and US foreign policy interests diverge and EU can stand independent be ready for a shitshow. US liked us when we toed the line.

  12. Both chambers of congress is currently controlled by the Republican party (Trump’s party). They say unlikely, because they are unsure if Republican’s in congress would cave to pressure and support the invasion. This statement was made by a Democrat. The subtext is, “There is mo way in hell my party would support this, but we can only HOPE that the other side has dignity enough to tell Trump No.”

  13. And nowhere in his remarks did Jeffries use the word “ unlikely”

  14. If a simple majority is needed to back an invasion of Greenland–“unlikely” is the most a minority party can assure.

He could get on the mic and guarantee, with every fiber of his being, that Congress would not back a Greenland invasion.

A vote along party lines would back a Greenland invasion.

  15. “Unlikely”. Jesus, this proves Democracts are simply as complicit as Republicans and we cannot trust neither.

  16. Please take note: They are still talking about it like it’s a legitimate thing to discuss in the US Congress.

This is how you make your population familiar with the idea.

  17. Unlikely is terrifyingly weak language for the prospect of INVADING A EUROPEAN ALLY!

  18. “I don’t believe that there is real bipartisan support in the Congress to aggressively move on Greenland,” Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, the leader of the Democrats in the House of Representatives, told reporters on April 25 during a visit by members of Congress.”

Sounds like he is Trying to be Obama part two. “Bipartisan”.

He and His party leaders are still pretending that things are normal in America.

  19. This would be much more reassuring coming from a Republican, because we already know Democrats not going to back it. What we don’t know if there are at least 3 or 4 Republicans who dares to stop Trump from starting World War III.

  20. We haven’t had an actual declaration of war since Korea. So, the president could act with relative impunity and there’s little Congress could do until after the fact.

If the headline isn’t vehemently opposed and would impeach/remove Trump, it’s meaningless.

  21. In OSINT terminology, ‘unlikely’ indicates a probability in the range of 25-35%.
This is way too high for a supposed ally.

  22. “Unlikely”? Guys, come on. How about “absolutely the fuck not?”

  23. Absolute wild fcking times, seeing US and Greenland invasion in one sentance. Orange cheeto is truely one fcking delusional shit stain.

  24. They’re such a pathetic country. That’s such a limp statement

  25. In other news: Donald Trump is unlikely to ask Congress about the Greenland invasion.

  26. US unlikely to invade its ally despite its president threatening two of them.

Yeah, a nice fucking ally that one is.

  27. Lol yay. Good for them. They aren’t backing impeachment either. How many Constitutional thingies has Trump broken so far?
