  1. I completely agree with the principle of what he’s saying, but using a laptop to do homework isn’t the issue. It’s what the screen is used for, not the screen itself.

Using Word or Excel to do schoolwork is very different than spending 5 hours scrolling through reels and TikToks.

  2. Sounds about right. It’s disgusting. There is no way in hell I would let my kids use a Chromebook! MacBooks all round!

  3. Hugh, I love your acting, but stay in your lane. If every child in the country could use a device in lessons, it could massively improve outcomes. It isn’t just using word to do work. There is so much out there that makes the workload for the children and teacher more impactful

  4. I’m very much in favour of destroying all computers, but “can’t go outside because it’s raining” is like a common school thing. You don’t want a bunch of wet smelly kids lol

  5. It’s the way of the world now, everything submitted is done on pc and children need to be comfortable with that.

It’s not that everything should be done on a screen, but yea, writing homework on a laptop, using tools. Like Google or chatgpt is the norm in every setting in life and so children should become experts in how to use it properly.

I didn’t hand write this comment and no one reading it got it in a broadsheet paper (maybe the metro tomorrow, they love a bit of reddit )

  6. Almost like the schools are trying to keep our kids from becoming technological backward while the rest of the world zooms ahead.

  7. It must be horrendous being a millionaire, all these problems, glad I’m a peasant.
