  1. No I’m pretty sure it’s just you who doesn’t like the sound of their own accent and also just you who noticed this

  2. kinda enjoy the quirks and eccentricities of the Ni accent.. it’s kinda heartening when It pops up in a film or TV show.

The affected accent front non ni folks can cause a little wince though. In those instances – it usually sounds like an unduly harsh and flat caricature that lacks a certain rhythm and flow.

  3. Can’t abide it, especially that nasally twang that smicks have

  4. I used to feel like that. Now I think maybe everyone has a little bit of that reaction, or maybe we in NI have been conditioned by decades of exposure to English media, and more recently more American media.

Obviously some variants of accents from anywhere can be pretty horrible, but no, all the NI accents are pretty much fine. And if you go to some other places they love our accent. Let’s not get down on ourselves for our accents.

    (Edit: typo)

  5. I don’t find it cringe, it’s just an accent. Hate hearing my own voice played back though

  6. Every time the advert for “CRASH” comes on I want to put my boot through the TV

  7. A girl on the 1% club last night from Derry. I think I wept.

  8. Doesn’t matter if we don’t like it, but others absolutely love it for some reason

  9. Hate our accent, find it so hard to keep watching a program, if someone with our accent suddenly pops up in it
