Can someone explain why Greece would want to block Finland? Am I out of the loop with something?
This rumor must have been Russian disinformation. Greece has no strategic interest against Finland joining NATO, and I don’t see how the government could explain that move to the electorate. It would be completely out of the blue.
All NATO countries should support Finland to join NATO. Russia cannot do anything about it as the current “special operation” aka unprovoked war is showing.
*The issue came up when Finish media reported on “rumours” that Turkey, Greece and Hungary could stand in the way of Finland’s application for NATO membership.*
Rumours coming from where? National parties or Russia?
The real question is what Orbanistan’s stance is.
I don’t think there ever truly was a concern regarding Greece or even Turkey blocking accession. Hungary was always the only real question mark and I sincerely doubt that they’re willing to fight over this. It would be extraordinarily stupid, even for Orban, to pick this as a hill to die on.
