Science says hip-hop makes cheese taste better Swiss researchers played several kinds of music for cheese as it aged, and the one that had the best flavor was exposed to A Tribe Called Quest.

  1. that title is misleading. The HKB is an arts university. This experiment would probably not qualify as thorough scientific research

  2. Bullshit. The real secret is cheese became better since we have to store wheels of cheese at least 2 by 2 so they don’t feel alone.

  3. Research question: Does exposure of different sounds to cheese bacteria during the 6-month aging process result in different flavor outcomes? Null hypothesis: Sound exposure to cheese during aging has no effect on flavor outcomes.

    Methods:

    Sample:
    1 control Wheel: no sound exposure; 6 months aging

    Experimental:
    1 Wheel each with Constant exposure to one of the following during 6-months of aging:
    * Yello
    * Mozart
    * Vril
    * Led Zeppelin
    * A Tribe Called Quest
    * High frequency sine wave
    * Medium frequency sine wave
    * Low frequency sine wave

    Measurement:
    2 separate tastings by an expert panel of Cheese Producers

    Outcomes: “Würzig” showed high variance in taste and smell. The control wheel had the overall most intense taste and smell. The Hip-Hop sample was highest in taste and smell for “Fruchtig”, and overall

    Given these results, the cheese manufacturer plans to carry out a larger scale version of the study to see if these results are reproducible.

    I’d say this is actual Science, though small in scale and in need of validation. The cheese manufacturer appears to be the primary funder of the research, and it seems to have promise in marketing efficacy, if nothing else.

  4. “Cause I got the crazy game and yo, I’m smooth like butter…”

    -the cheese, probably.
