The Brief:

Beloit City Council approved the sale of 13 acres in Gateway Business Park to Blackhawk Transport for expansion.

Blackhawk Transport plans to build a 10,000 sq. ft. office and an 11,000 sq. ft. truck service building.

The city will receive $65,000 from the sale, with additional incentives for job creation and site preparation.

BELOIT, Wis. — The Beloit City Council on Monday night agreed to sell 13 acres of land in the Gateway Business Park for Blackhawk Transport’s Inc’s expansion. 

Blackhawk Transport will build a 10,000 square foot office building and an 11,000 square foot truck service building as well as a parking lot and other improvements. The property is located at 2001 Gateway Blvd. 

Blackhawk Transport currently leases its space from Corporate Contractors in Beloit. 

The city will receive $65,000 for the sale of the property which will close in spring 2025. The agreement also includes the following incentives that are funded through the area’s tax increment district:

A $200,000 grant reimbursement for site preparation costs, including grading. Property tax refund for 10 years requiring Blackhawk Transport to maintain its current 46 full-time positions and add six additional full-time positions by the end of 2036.

The development agreement calls for the project to start within 12 months of the property closing, and complete within 18 months of starting the project. 

The project is the first approved in the city’s newest tax increment district, which was established in 2023.
