Czechia sends Ukraine T-72 tanks and armoured personnel carriers

  1. If its those BMP1’s and T-72M tanks then they are utterly useless.

T-72M – Nothing is stabilized, no ERA, old optical sights, terrible fire control system. Its a downgraded T-72A.
Apart for spare parts, these are utterly useless in their current form.

The BMP1 is also useless. Same issues as the T-72M but its gun has a maximum range of 500m.

There is a reason you don’t see these tanks on either side of the war. You only see BMP1’s in very low numbers.

  2. We have only 30 upgraded tanks and we can’t give up our own defense. Ukraine has the capability to upgrade those lower tier T-72s with what they have captured or lost in the field, I’m sure they wouldn’t accept them if they didn’t have any use for them. Old BMPs still beat the civilian cars they are using for a lot of movement.

  3. Nice, the best thing about this is that it normalises the transfer of tanks to Ukraine. Ideally Poland can now accidentally park two-hundred on the border line and leave the keys in.
