‘Buying a boat was the only option to own a home’

  1. Barge life is probably preferable to van life but both can have an unpleasantness which can wear you down.

When a handful of things are a little inconvenient it’s okay, but when it’s -5 outside and you just want clean dry clothes and a living space that’s not damp it’s really no fun.

    It’s better than renting though.

  2. I’ve often fancied living on a boat, but if you don’t want to be on the move all the time isn’t it pretty much as expensive as a flat?

  3. I fucking hate how the BBC have edited this with jolly music and portrayed it like a quirky and exciting adventure. I respect this woman’s positivity but it paints this crisis in completely the wrong light. Boomers will be thinking ‘good for her, being inependent and creative, all the other millennials have no excuse.’

I live in a caravan and i am confident that this woman is in for a very shit time.

  4. My friend lives on a house boat with her best friend and loves it. I’ve been on it and I think I’d struggle not having the familiar creature comforts.
