Bayo Dosunmu, chief executive of Lambeth Council, was arrested for drunk driving and received a 2-year driving ban. He pleaded guilty at Westminster Magistrates’ Court in September 2024 to drink-driving, driving without insurance and failing to stop at the scene of a collision.

If you thought that was a sackable offence, think again: it has now been revealed that he was awarded a "settlement agreement" worth £87,879

That Lambeth is one of the most anti-car councils in London makes it all even more ironic. Like those politicians shouting about morality and then engaging in all kinds of debauchery in their private lives…

  1. Three times over the alcohol limit, uninsured and drove off after hitting another car?

“Dosunmu was awarded a “settlement agreement” worth £87,879, citing the “unexpected and unprecedented emergency situation” that arose.

Dosunmu was behind the wheel of a white Jeep when he crashed into a blue Toyota shortly before 9am on June 23, near Wandsworth Bridge Road in Fulham.
The driver of the Toyota pursued Dosunmu as he tried to flee, forcing him to stop. When police arrived, officers reported he was slurring his words and “struggling to follow directions”. Tests found he was three times the drink-drive limit.”

    They work for you right?

  2. FTA:

    >Bayo Dosunmu, 46, left his **£190,000** -a-year post at Labour-run Lambeth Council

Socialism for thee but not for me?

Also, he was driving around in an uninsured vehicle.

    >He was sentenced to a 12-month community order, 150 hours of unpaid work and 15 days of rehabilitation activity requirement.

No prison? Is this again the two tier policing I keep reading about?

  3. I notice that the Taxpayers’ Alliance is quoted. Worth pointing out that this a lobby group funded by undisclosed donors. It’s not a genuine group that taxpayers like you and me can join. It’s dark money pushing a right wing agenda.

It’s pretty bad that Lambeth had to pay out the CEO in the circumstances. He quit within two days – if the Council had acted quicker and fired him before he quit, would they have been entitled to avoid the notice period payment?

  4. ‘… was discovered to be three times the drink-drive limit – he admitted to being uninsured, drink-driving and failing to stop.’

    Yikes.

  5. Isn’t this just a contractual thing, i.e. no real cover to just fire without compensation?

  6. Genuine question how do these people get into these positions?

  7. This is why you’ll never convince me that council tax is not a fucking scam.
