Solo travel can be empowering for women, offering freedom and adventure. However, it also comes with its share of risks, as women often need to stay extra alert to avoid unsettling experiences such as stalking, harassment, or theft.

In a recent alarming incident, Natalisi Taksisi, a solo traveller from Thailand, faced a terrifying situation in Japan when she discovered a man hiding beneath her hotel bed, a moment that turned her dream trip into a nightmare. In a now-viral video, Taksisi said she booked a solo trip to Japan, believing the country to be safe for women. After spending the day exploring, she returned to her hotel room, which had a key card system for access.

As she lay on her bed, she noticed a strange smell coming from underneath. Curious and uneasy, she looked under the bed, only to be met with a terrifying sight. “I saw two eyes staring at me,” she recalled in the video.

After being discovered, the man ran out of the room. Shocked and panicked, Taksisi immediately reported the incident to the hotel staff, who then called the police. She also highlighted that no CCTV cameras were functional on the hotel property.

Authorities later found a power bank and a USB cable left behind in the room. Despite the traumatic experience, the hotel refused to issue her a full refund, even after she requested compensation after the emotional distress.

Taksisi checked into another hotel that same night, but by the following day, she had still not received a copy of her police report via email.

Sharing the video on Instagram, Taksisi wrote, “I found a man under my bed in a hotel room in Japan. This was supposed to be a safe solo trip. What happened changed everything REMARK: I spent 510$ for the APA hotel.”
