Has been sleeping around where I live for several months now and nobody owns him, seems to just have appeared one day and is beating all the local cats up, also looks pretty depressed or sick of my shit, not sure which yet. Has taken up until recently to get near him as he just wants a scrap.

I don’t know the answer to your question but… He’s absolutely adorable
Looks like it might be at least part wildcat.
Depends where you are in Scotland. Stick out some food for it
That’s a Scottish hangover cat. Leave them alone, they’ve clearly had a big night.
Definitely looks like it, an old one too.
fearsome wild haggis hunter im sure
I wouldn’t have thought full wildcat, but maybe partially, depending where you are.
I think the tip of the tail should be bushier on a wildcat but could be a domestic hybrid.
Looks more like a un-neutered male tabby. There’s a couple that roam around my area, getting into fights with the other males and yowling for females. They have owners but because they’ve not been fixed they spend most of their time outdoors.
Wildcats are pretty fierce and avoid humans generally.
The ears look like he has the “Scottish Fold” mutation, which wildcats don’t have.
Feed him and call him Sir anyway.
In central Scotland btw, south Lanarkshire.
Looks like he’s in need of a fry up and an irn bru and maybe paracetamol
Hard to tell without seeing the actual size of him but he could well be at least part wildcat, depending on where you are. My granny had a half wildcat half domestic; could not be told that this massive feral thing was a wildcat, he’d terrorise anyone who wasn’t her but she’d say he was just fussy. When she passed the vets who came to deal with him confirmed he was part wildcat and were astonished at how my wee granny was able to look after him
Judging by the expression on its face, I’d say definitely Scottish. I’ve seen that look in the Highlands
House cat, the tail is a give away
House cat, the tail is a give away
That’s Johnny. He’s hungover leave the lad!
In all seriousness what a great looking cat, think it’s wild.

Might help.
Though I don’t think it is, based on the tail.
Don’t think so. Tail too short, bands round legs etc to uneven. And if he/she were a wildcat you wouldn’t really see them.
Don’t suppose you have seen his belly?
Anyway, possibly a hybrid but looks like some, kind of scottish fold hybrid as others have said. They always look grumpy.
Is that not Bagpuss?
Looks like a basic stray/feral. Probably unneutered male they tend to have those “jowels”.
Either help him out with regular food or call animal shelter. They might put him down though if they don’t think he’d get adopted 😞.
He could also be lost. Might be worth checking local Facebook posts for lost pets.
It’s a Scottish fold tabby looks like an old boy to be fair and they are on the larger side of cat breeds

They might be very interested, he certainly looks like it if the ears were folded from fight damage.
Ask it to meow 😻 and listen to its accent 😃
His tail looks tapered and his ears are folded. Both are not part of wildcat appearance.
That doesn’t mean he isn’t a mix. Female housecats tend to attract male wildcats as the housecats are weaker and less likely to injure the males.
Wild? He was absolutely livid!
No just grumpy
Don’t know what kind of cat he is, ☹️😔wee soul.just needs a forever home 🏡 heartbreaking 💔 if I could catch him I would keep him💯💯🥰🥰❤️❤️🙏🙏👍👍
Absolutely looks like a Scottish Fold, looks way too docile to be a wildcat.
No, that’s a Scottish fold. Poor guy looks so exhausted 😢😭😭
He looks absolutely miserable. And adorable. Miseradorable.
That’s a Scottish mildcat.
Wild? He looks absolutely livid
The gene that causes the mutation for the ears to fold also causes painful arthritis in the joints, he might be in pain. If you could take him to a vet they might be able to help him. He’s a gorgeous boy well done for looking after him
If it’s not been said before: If you live in/near the cairngorms you should call RSZZ/Saving Wildcats and they will come and neuter this cat.
One of the main issues they have with releasing wildcats is that they interbreed with non-wildcat stray cats which diminishes the purity of the wildcat genetics in the long run. This won’t harm your furry friend!
