1. So they’ll come for Roberts himself the next time he doesn’t rule for Trump on an immigration case, and there will be nobody able to stand up for him.

   At first I’ll laugh for a good 20 minutes or so, and then I’ll let myself freak out about the death of our nation.

   The US Marshals need to be pulled back under proper judiciary control ASAP. Time to deputize a small army?

Really, it’s incredibly alarming to hear the possibility of DOJ arresting Supreme Court justices being considered, like, is this really the new way to handle disagreements, and what does that even mean for our system of checks and balances, and honestly, it’s just a frightening thought, because President Trump, as we know, called for the impeachment of Judge Boasberg after he ruled on the Venezuelan migrants, so things are only getting worse, it’s all very concerning, particularly given the implications for judicial independence and the potential for political interference, and a real wake-up call, I think… it’s a lot to process, honestly.

3. Right out of the Nazi playbook! Hitler removed judges he didn’t want and replaced with those loyal to him.

4. Fascist fuckery like this is dangerous and the courts and Congress need to open their eyes.

8. Hoist by their own petard. They placed him above the law, and now he doesn’t need them any more because he owns the people who enforce it. They’ll go for the democratic judges first, of course, but the rest will not be far behind. They have outlived their usefulness by giving away their power.

10. Well, if we don’t defend our institutions, even the ones we moderately dislike or don’t really understand, we lose them. Simple as that.

    Democracy isn’t a spectator sport.

12. So, when SCOTUS gave trump a hand, they didn’t expect him to take their arm, too?

    People were very disinterested in the last election, but they will be pretty aware if you did such a thing as arrest a fucking Supreme Court Justice.

20. Roberts must be pushing back behind the scenes (if I had to guess, on the recent arrest of a judge) if they are going this nuclear. Talk about reaping the whirlwind.

    In other words… if the Legislation branch of the government were to impeach Trump they would be impeding this administration and they could be arrested.

22. Never forget – judges can deputize law enforcement to enforce the law, and at any time the Supreme Court can review their decisions, such as giving sitting presidents immunity. They could end this today!

    Why would you be combative with your majority-Republican court? The same court that’s been carrying your fascist water for years now.

    Don’t get me wrong, I love the own goals (that don’t harm underprivileged people) but this is very, very, stupid.
