“Milk and Cookies”, directed by Andrei Tache-Codreanu, will have its world premiere at the prestigious 2025 Cannes Film Festival, in the La Cinef section dedicated to showcasing the world’s most promising emerging filmmakers. The film, a production of the National University of Theatre and Film “I.L. Caragiale” (UNATC) in Bucharest, was selected from over 2,700 international submissions. It is one of only 16 titles chosen for the La Cinef competition, a platform known for launching the careers of future cinema talents.
“Milk and Cookies” is a poignant Christmas story and a deeply relevant exploration of family dynamics, brought to life by the memorable performances of Doru Bem, Anca Florescu, Rareș Prisacariu, and Liviu Chițu.
About Andrei Tache-Codreanu
At 28 years old, Andrei Tache-Codreanu recently defended his PhD thesis in Cinematography at the National University of Theatre and Film “I.L. Caragiale” in Bucharest, earning the highest distinction, Summa Cum Laude. As a young researcher, he has published internationally indexed studies on the therapeutic possibilities of cinema, both for audiences and for those involved in the filmmaking process. As a director, his films have so far won 15 international awards at various film festivals, with “Milk and Cookies” now set to have its world premiere at Cannes.
The film features a cast led by Doru Bem, Anca Florescu, Rareș Prisacariu, and Liviu Chițu. It was directed by Andrei Tache-Codreanu, with a script written by Andrei Tache-Codreanu and Denis Budăi. The cinematography was handled by Barbu Nițelea, production design by Marius Andrei, and editing by Alexandra M. Diaconu. Sound design and mix were created by Matei Vasilache, with VFX by Ömer Faruk-Kutay. Marcu Ștefan served as first assistant director, Iness Roșca as art director, Maria Pantazi as costume designer, and Claudia Alexa handled make-up and hair. The soundtrack features contributions from SOUND Choir, Cipri Popescu, and Tralala Studio. The producers are Denis Budăi and Andrei Tache-Codreanu, and the film is a UNATC “I.L. Caragiale” production.
The 78th edition of the Cannes Film Festival will take place from May 13–24, 2025, along the Croisette in Cannes, France. The event annually brings together the most significant names in world cinema, providing a launch platform for auteur films, promising debuts, and major productions.
