Amazon buys 18 Ariane 6 launches for its internet satellites

  1. They also bought 12 Blue Origin and 38 ULA launches.

As Eric Berger put it, they basically booked out capacity on Western Rockets for the next 5 years… excluding SpaceX and smallsat launchers.

And none of these rockets exist yet. So it seems a safe bet that they won’t all be able to maintain this cadence and there will be some delay. So probably more than 5 years.

  2. I tried to find out which companies/countries are essentially benefitting from this in the longterm but those company structures are too complicated for me. e.g. 60% of Arianespace is owned by the Arianegroup which is a French company which is again owned by Airbus but the Space and Defense section of Airbus is German. Can anyone break this down?

  3. I am not sure I am a fan of these constellations. When it comes to night sky and land-based astronomy, they are bound to be a disaster, aren’t they?
