GB News Broadcast Almost 1,000 Anti-Climate Attacks Before and After 2024 Election

1. GB News gave a platform to at least 953 anti-climate attacks in the immediate run-up and aftermath of the 2024 general election, DeSmog can reveal.

   Half of these featured attacks on clean energy policies, including that the goal of reducing emissions to net zero by 2050 is a “cult” and a “monster”.

   The broadcaster aired an average of around 4.5 anti-climate claims per day during the period from 31 May to 31 December, with attacks on climate science, policy, or environmental groups featuring in almost 12 percent of all half-hour segments.

   At least 74 of these anti-climate statements were made by current or former representatives of Nigel Farage’s Reform UK and its predecessor party, the Brexit Party, several of whom are GB News hosts.

2. What voters are going to realise is that outside of immigration and Brexit, Reform’s policies are actually really awful and unpopular.

   Their stances on private healthcare, believing people are over-diagnosed with mental health illnesses, supporting Liz Truss’ mini budget and calling for a similar economic model of low tax and low spend that Starmer is currently doing and people are currently hating.

   If journalists actually treated Farage as a politician and not as a celebrity, people may actually see the ugly substance of what Reform believes in.

3. That’s because it’s not a news channel, it’s a propaganda machine.

5. Pro tip: Anyone who so vehemently rejects established facts is somebody not worth listening to. Any outlet denying the existence of climate change, or the efficacy of vaccines, deserved to be switched over because those won’t be the only things they are lying to you about.

10. Being anti-climate change is being pro-migration though. You think the boat crisis is bad now? Wait until climate change really kicks in and large parts of the world are no longer suitable for crop production. People will start migrating in the millions and that crisis will become a humanitarian disaster. We will see that so much sooner than such people think too. Give it a decade and we will wish people took climate change seriously several decades ago.
